Homeless people are some of the smartest/wisest you'll ever meet; they have a wisdom that everyone can truly benefit from. The trick is that you have to listen, and carefully. Not only this, but you sort of have to believe in signs and omens. So I use the Metro here in Los Angeles, and I encounter a great deal of homelessness. And those characters are the ones who, I feel, help me to carry my own cross, often on a daily basis.
Just this week, I gave one of my favorite Orange Line operators, Michael, a scenario in which I felt that the homeless could be most beneficial to me: First, I said that I wanted to score a date with Miranda Cosgrove, from Nickelodeon's ICarly. That's truthfully the end goal of this very blog, but if I have no proof-of-concept to fall back on, then where would I start?
Again, I'm only drawing a picture: me and my homeless friend are riding the bus, we try to get coffee, score a cigarette...and in the midst of these processes, doors start to open. YouTube personalities start coming out with their smart phones, someone lights a smoke, starts exchanging social media info with someone else, and so on.
Only an illustration for my bus driver friend to follow, but then this morning something amazing happens. While having some black tea at my local Starbucks, my homeless friend from the neighborhood, Koko Arabian walks in. At first, I scarcely recognize him.
I bum a cigarette off of Koko, and we start to talk. I tell him about Miranda Cosgrove and how I feel about her. From there, Arabian asks what I feel is the golden question: "It would just make your whole year to have a lunch date with her, wouldn't it?!" Obviously, yeah...but then he starts telling me about Lisa Marie Presley, and how he's best friends with her kids, the grandchildren of Elvis Presley.
Koko starts to tell me about his music industry connections, and that he knows actress Jenna Ashley, among others. We enjoy a hot beverage, smoke a cigarette...ultimately, we exchange contact information; Koko says that if I will just stick with him for long enough, that he will get me that lunch date with Miranda Cosgrove.
Could've just been a "fluke," or just some great conversation over a highly-desirable actress. But because I've studied the Law of Attraction and kind of understand how it works, I truly believe that I spoke what I wanted, and what I wanted started, and is starting to become real!
